Pressure test of Vølund Junior.
(May 2002)

In Denmark a steam boiler must be inspected every second year. Every fourth year a major inspection is mandatory. The inspection is made by Arbejdstilsynet (Danish Labour Inspectorate).
Riveted boilers are special and the younger engineers have no experiences in their design.
Damptromleklubben has a close co-operation with Mr. Kurt Andersen from Arbejdstilsynet. He is of the old school and even though he spent the most of his working day behind the desk, he gladly takes on a boiler suit and inspect our steam rollers.

It is not very often you will see a digital pressure gauge at a steam roller, but here you see the test pressure gauge of Mr. Kurt Andersens connected to boiler to read out the pressure during the cold pressure test.
Inspection time. From the left Steen Rasmussen, Kurt Andersen and Erik Rothmann. Observe the helmet of Kurt Andersen.
The boiler is approved and Erik Rothmann has the honour to mark the boiler with crown (the sign of Arbejdstilsynet) and the year.
