The
first roller in the Damptromleklubben collection.
Vølund
Senior no. 1678 (15) from 1931, here photographed in Brande (Jytland) 2/3
1963. Photo L.A.
The
price was DKK 700. Jørgen Permin, Bjarne Jensen, Poul Adamsen & Svend
Jørgensen jointed up and bought the roller in 1965. The wilderness of the
forest had taken the roller in possession and it had to be excavated free.
Arrived
at Taastrup, in the garden of Jørgen Permin mom, the roller was taken
apart.
The
smoke box had heavy corrosion, and had to be changed. Unfortunately the
corrosions was of a kind that we could not manage to restore.
The
roller re-assembled and painted in its original red color.
We
got a contact to Egeskov Veteran Museum, whom exhibited the roller in
1966.
Vølund
Senior as it looked as it left the Vølund plant at Øresundsvej on Amager
(the island where Copenhagen Airport Kastrup is placed).
