Since Vølund Senior has arrived to Esbjerg it had its
place in one of the small buildings so the team could work with the roller
not disturbing the production. The first big task was dismantling and
registration of the roller. Unfortunately we have no drawings, therefore it
is important that the dismantling is recorded.
Click the pictures to see them in full size.
The left side of the
tender before dismantling, then we can see how it was.
Preben and Gerhard are
planning the next move in the dismantling process. Egon P. is straightening
a rod for the scarifier. Unfortunately Egon P. later found out that it
should have a bend!
Egon M. and Gerhard have
just dismantled the worm for the steering chain.
All pieces are marked with
labels ready for cleaning and restoration.
The dismantling is nearly
finished.
The other staff at Vølund is watching the project. Here we see some of them
beside the boiler.
The boiler is dismantled
and ready for wall thickness measurements of the different parts. Nearly all
are OK. The front hole plate is too thin which also is the case for a part
of the flange in the bottom. The hole plate in the fire box is pretty worn
between the tubes.
